Inspired by his travels and friends Guillaume Deroy made his long time dream a reality last summer when he opened Nordik Market, a concept shop devoted to Scandinavian design. Coming from a background in fashion, Deroy is able to use his eye to create a Scandinavian universe in the heart of the Marais made up up vintage furniture from the 50s & 60s, as well as newer, original creations that you can't find elsewhere in France.

With the recent deluge of rainy days in Paris, it seems that a wet Christmas is more likely than a white Christmas this year. But despite the weather not cooperating with the season of joy, there are still plenty of ways to get into the holiday spirit, that continue into the new year.

For me, it's not the holidays until I visit the grands magasins. While I suppose most people go for the shopping, I go for the windows. With Galeries Lafayette and Printemps next to each other, one can't help but feel like each year it's a bit of a competition as to who can out do the other's window display. (Printemps has won the past two years in my mind).

Paris' 20 Best Vintage Clothing Shops

Caverneafripes

Text + images by Meg Gagnard

Our vintage clothing post has long been one of our readers' favourites. We decided it needed an update, so we called on urban explorer Meg Gagnard of De Quelle planète es-tu? to update the guide, and give a bit more information about each place. Thanks, Meg! Anne

n. f. FRIPERIE: Vêtements, meubles qui, ayant servi, sont plus ou moins usés. Ce n'est que de la friperie. Marchand de friperie.

A friperie is a French word for a place that sells second-hand clothing: whether that be high end vintage name brands or basic 5 euro button downs. A lot of the shops play with this word to make it unique for their particular boutique.

Paris is the city of many things, and when it comes to vintage clothing or second hand shops, Paris has got a lot to offer (don’t forget about the flea markets!). Below is a list organized by district, of 20 second-hand shops in Paris. There are many, many more for different styles, decades and budgets that couldn’t fit into a list of a number as small as 20, but please share your favorites in the comments!
